Warriors Make Winning Plays Late, Outlast Rhodes 74-71

The Fairview boys basketball team earned its eighth straight victory Friday night, edging James Rhodes 74-71 in a back-and-forth battle. The Warriors improve to 11-3 on the season after closing strong down the stretch.

It was a game of runs from the opening tip. Rhodes came out firing with a 16-point first quarter, and later surged again with a 27-point third and 20-point fourth, even getting a chance to tie the game with 0.8 seconds remaining. Fairview countered with key adjustments, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, tightening up defensively and attacking the rim for timely scores. A 28-point fourth quarter ultimately proved to be the difference.

Burke Lowry delivered in crunch time, scoring nine of his 17 points in the final period. Savijan Harris also rose to the moment, drilling two clutch three-pointers and pouring in nine of his 14 points in the fourth. Will Allen and Carter Holliday sparked Fairview’s second-quarter surge, combining to help build a 35-24 halftime lead. Allen finished with 16 points, while Holliday added 11. Carter Reagan provided steady interior scoring throughout the contest, finishing with nine points on key finishes at the rim.
