Four Event Titles Fuel Warriors to District Runner-Up Finish

The Fairview girls track and field team finished as OHSAA Division III District Runner-Up on Saturday afternoon at Bay High School, totaling 111.5 team points, just 3.5 points behind District Champion Firelands.
The Warriors will send eight athletes on to next week’s Regional Meet at Austintown Fitch High School after another strong postseason performance highlighted by multiple district championships and school-record performances.
District Champions
After capturing the District Championship in the 4x800 relay Thursday evening, the Warriors added three more event titles during Saturday’s finals. Maddie Eckert entered the day focused on the long jump title and delivered, winning the event with a leap of 16-09.25 to earn District Champion honors.
In one of the most exciting races of the afternoon, Molly Koczur captured the District Championship in the 400 meters while breaking the Fairview school record with her winning time of 59.05. The Warriors closed the meet in dominant fashion as the 4x400 relay team of Addy Gilbert, Maddie Eckert, Claire Dahler, and Molly Koczur ran a personal-best 4:06.99 to win the District Championship and secure the team runner-up trophy.
Regional Qualifiers
- The 4x200 relay team of Molly Koczur, Amelia Kay, Addy Gilbert, and Maddie Eckert earned a regional berth with a runner-up finish in 1:46.74.
- Emily Dahler secured qualification in her third event of Regional Week after placing third in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:43.90.
- Gilbert joined Koczur breaking the previous school record in the 400 meters, finishing second overall in 59.30 to qualify for Regionals.
- Claire Dahler opened her Saturday afternoon with a runner-up finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:26.87 to advance.
Top Performers
- Amelia Kay recorded a personal best in the pole vault, clearing 8-06 to finish sixth overall.
- Senior Gibbie Ereth placed seventh in the long jump with a best jump of 13-11.50.
- Ellie scott finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 74-03.
- Maddy Sterling earned a sixth-place finish in the 100 hurldes after running 19.39.
- Meghan McDonald placed seventh in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:54.42.
- The 4x100 relay team of Sterling, Maura Gillis, Kaila Orengo, and Lola Scott finished seventh in 53.82.
- Kay also earned a sixth-place finish in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.07.
- Senior Kailyn Cornell finished sixth in the 800 meters after running 2:35.95.
- Gillis competed in the 200 meters and crossed the finish line in 28.09

Fairview's regional qualifiers will compete Thursday May 28 and Saturday May 30 at Austintown Fitch High School. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Running events will start at 6:00 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
