Fairview Wrestling Goes 3-2 at Ben Vitron Memorial Duals

Fairview wrestling turned in a strong showing Saturday at the Ben Vitron Memorial Duals at Independence High School, finishing the day with a 3-2 record against a competitive field.

The Warriors opened the tournament with a 53-30 victory over Lakeside before dropping a tight 36-30 decision to host Independence. Fairview then ran into a powerful North Canton Hoover squad, falling 61-15, but responded with back-to-back wins over Chagrin Falls and Jefferson to close out the day on a positive note.

Jackson Habbyshaw (165 pounds) delivered a perfect 5-0 performance to lead the way. He began the day with a pin of Tyrell Lester (Lakeside), followed by falls against Abel Sajan (Independence) and Bailey Greenwell (North Canton Hoover), the latter coming while holding a 12-3 lead. Habbyshaw added pins over Landon Schmit (Chagrin Falls) and Josh Piccirillo (Jefferson) to cap his dominant day.

Henry McAleer (190 pounds) also had a strong outing, finishing 4-1. He recorded pins over Alex Rodriguez (Lakeside), Quinn Kovalchik (North Canton Hoover), and Eli Havas (Chagrin Falls).

At 120 pounds, Firaas McLeod went 2-0, earning an 8-4 decision over George Steward (Chagrin Falls) and an 11-6 decision against Tristin Fertig (Jefferson).
