Fairview Pushes Four Through to Districts

The Fairview wrestling team turned in a strong performance at the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, finishing fifth overall with 126 team points. Crestwood captured the sectional title with 180 points.
Freshman standout Landon Strandahl led the way for the Warriors with a runner-up finish at 106 pounds. Strandahl opened his day in dominant fashion, earning an 18-3 technical fall over Norwayne’s Aiden Berry to advance to the championship match. He ultimately placed second after falling to Akron Manchester’s Mikey Bietko in the finals.
At 190 pounds, Henry McAleer put together an impressive 3-1 showing to finish third and punch his ticket to districts. McAleer secured qualification with a strong 10-3 decision over Rootstown’s Aiden Long in the third-place match.
Daniel Davis (120) and Lucas Reagan (126) also advanced, each going 3-2 on the day to finish fourth in their respective weight classes and qualify for next weekend’s district tournament.
Brendan Canfield (113), George McAleer (175), and Cayden Polk (285) each battled to fifth-place finishes for the Warriors.
