Fairview Girls Capture CVC Crown as Boys Deliver Season-Best Finish

The Fairview Warriors closed out the Chagrin Valley Conference Track and Field Championships with an outstanding performance Thursday evening, highlighted by the girls team capturing its second consecutive conference championship while the boys recorded their best team finish of the season.
The girls totaled 183 team points to win the conference title by 51 points over runner-up Independence. On the boys side, the Warriors scored 130 team points to finish third overall behind Independence and conference champion Cuyahoga Heights.
Conference Champions
Bryce Ries continued his dominant postseason run by earning two more conference championships Thursday evening. The senior captured the 1600 meter title in 4:31.54 before winning the 800 meters in 2:01.24, finishing the week as a four-time conference champion after previously winning the 3200 meters and helping the boys 4x800 relay team to a championship earlier in the week.
Emily Dahler also added another conference title to her impressive week. After winning the 3200 meters and running on the champion girls 4x800 relay team Tuesday, the sophomore earned the conference championship in the 1600 meters with a winning time of 5:39.93 to finish the week as a three-time conference champion.
Sophomore Addy Gilbert captured the conference championship in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.04 while Claire Dahler earned the conference title in the 800 meters after crossing the line in 2:27.00.
The girls capped the meet with another conference championship in the 4x400 relay as Addy Gilbert, Maddie Eckert, Claire Dahler, and Molly Koczur combined for a winning time of 4:12.07.
Girls Top Placers
- Autumn Cuscire placed third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.81.
- Eckert finished third in the 100 meters in 13.39.
- The girls 4x200 relay team of Koczur, Amelia Kay, Gilbert, and Eckert earned runner-up honors with a time of 1:49.00.
- The 4x100 relay team of Maddy Sterling, Maura Gillis, Kaila Orengo, and Lola Scott placed third in 53.81.
- Koczur added a second-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.75.
- Kay earned a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles after running 52.13.
Boys Top Placers
- The boys 4x200 relay team of LaMarcus Clark, Graham Foote, Elijah Cochran, and Sean Finch placed third overall in 1:35.89.
- That same lineup ran in the 4x100 relay, again claiming a third place finish in 46.14.
- Ryan Christ placed third in the 400 meters with his time of 53.79.
- Nate Stoessner earned runner-up honors in the 800 meters after crossing the line behind teammate Ries in 2:09.56.
- The boys 4x400 relay team of Roman Ramsdell, Stoessner, Mike McGlynn, and Christ closed the evening with a third-place finish in 3:37.38.
Up Next
The Warriors now turn their attention to the OHSAA District Championships next week. The boys will compete Wednesday and Friday at Norwayne High School while the girls will travel to Bay High School for competition Thursday and Saturday.
